    The Report outlines the progress and achievements, as well as the challenges, of more than 200 partners across the eight response sectors of Protection, Food Security, Education, Health and Nutrition, Basic Needs, Shelter, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Livelihoods and Social Cohesion. It gives a regional overview of each sector as well as details of the response in each of the five refugee hosting countries included in the 3RP – Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt.

    The Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) is a consolidated regional framework aimed at addressing refugee protection needs, the humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable, and the longerterm socio-economic impacts of the Syria crisis on neighbouring countries. It brings together the plans developed under the leadership of the national authorities of the Republic of Turkey, the Lebanese Republic, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq and the Arab Republic of Egypt to ensure protection and humanitarian assistance, and to strengthen the resilience of host communities. The 3RP acknowledges the importance of national ownership in securing a more effective and sustainable response to the crisis.

    The conflict in Syria has placed an enormous toll on economic and human development within Syria. The Syrian economy faces widespread de-industrialization and large-scale capital divestment. The unemployment rate skyrocketed to 48.8 percent in 2013, affecting the welfare of over 10 million people. The Syria’s Human Development Index is estimated to have rolled back 35 years because of deteriorating health, education and incomes.

This Regional Strategic overview is a summary of the programme priorities and resource requirements of nearly 200 partners responding to the Syrian crisis in support of government priorities.
