Towards the next generation of crisis response: resilience building in Syria and neighbouring countries

Amman, 24 October 2016– In collaboration with the governments of Canada and Finland, UNDP is convening the “Syria crisis Resilience-Building Week – a Bridge from Concepts to Practice,” over the period 25-27 October, in Amman. This knowledge and policy exchange event will bring together over 200 participants including international high-level officials from governments in the region, regional experts and practitioners in resilience, UN partners, international financial institutions, NGOS, the private sector to exchange views on current responses to the Syria crisis; identify emerging needs; discuss challenges and opportunities; and generate practical knowledge to improve crisis responses.

Tunis– Representatives from African countries discussed opportunities and challenges that they are facing in turning climate targets into concrete actions to mitigate the impacts of climate change and adapt to them. These discussions in the Regional Dialogue on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for Africa, hosted by the Government of Tunisia, from 5-7 September, provided an opportunity for African countries to address key commitments to the Paris Agreement ahead of the next climate conference, COP22, set for Marrakech in November.
