UNDP thanks Kuwait for generous contribution for flood affected areas in Pakistan
UNDP expressed its gratitude to the Government of the State of Kuwait for contributing USD 250,000 in response to the international efforts to assist Pakistan cope with the devastating flood that hit the country this year.
In a letter to the Kuwaiti Government, UNDP’s Administrator Helen Clark said this contribution together with the earlier generous contributions Kuwait offered to UNDP following the earthquake in Haiti earlier this year, proves the Kuwaiti Government's commitment to the international humanitarian assistance and to the existing partnership between Kuwait and the UN in general and UNDP in particular.
"We in UNDP attach a great importance to our partnership with Kuwait, I wish emphasize our commitment to continue to strengthen and expand it, both in Kuwait through our Country Office in support of the national development agenda, as well as beyond the borders of Kuwait, be it within the Arab Region or in support of development efforts in other regions”. Clark said in her letter.
She added that UNDP is looking forward to holding further discussions with the Kuwaiti Government on ways to deepen this partnership.
