UNDP supports Riyadh Municipality in its efforts to provide better services
Riyadh – Mayor of Riyadh, H.E. Eng. Abdullah Al-Mogbel and UNDP Resident Representative, Dr. Riyad Al-Ahmad signed, earlier this week, an agreement for a new project that will address key public service challenges in Riyadh, including transport and waste management systems.
With an annual budget of USD 500,000 the project will support capacity development for sustainable public service management.
The project will support the introduction of Intelligent Transport Systems to improve transport efficiency and safety, a field that UNDP has been working on with the ministry of Roads and Transport for a number years.
To address the growing demand for waste management in Riyadh and offer its citizens first-rate services, UNDP will provide technical assistance to the Municipality in the areas of waste collection, disposal and recycling, employing methods that meet the highest standards of health and sustainability.
“Riyadh is fast growing as world-class capital,” said UNDP Resident Representative, AlAhmed. “ We are happy to provide assistance to the Amana (Municipality) in its persistent efforts to improve public services for all Riyadh inhabitants.”
