UNDP Director for the Regional Bureau for Arab States, Sima Bahous, joins Administrator Helen Clark in strongly condemning the attack which occurred on 19 June on the UN Common Compound in Mogadishu, Somalia, where UNDP personnel were among the casualties.
Among the UN fatalities it has so far been confirmed that one international staff member, three contractors and four Somali security guards have been killed. An unconfirmed number of Somali civilians have also been killed in this appalling attack.
UNDP remains in close contact with UN Country Team colleagues in Mogadishu to ensure that they continue to be supported in every way possible.
