Signing of a project document to strengthen parliamentary administration capacities in Libya
The United Nations Development Programme in Libya and the General National Congress (GNC) signed today a project document on "Strengthening and Developing GNC Parliamentary Administration Capacities” at GNC’s headquarters in Tripoli.
The document was signed off by Dr. Salah Al Mohammed Almakhzom; Second Deputy President (SDP) of GNC, and the UNDP Resident Representative (RR) in Libya, Mr. George Charpentier.
The 2013-2015 GNC-UNDP Project aims at strengthening the GNC secretariat through reinforcing the GNC's departments and human resources in order to achieve the effective performance. The Parliamentary Administration constitutes the institutional memory of the GNC and it is considered as a necessary condition in ensuring sustainable progress and transformation of parliamentary work of GNC through time for forthcoming parliaments.
During the signing ceremony Dr. Salah Almakhzom and Mr. George Charpentier stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and expertise which is part the signed project.
This project will be under the responsibility and implementation management of the UNDP and GNC funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).
The project documents marks the culmination of months of engagement and technical support provided by UNDP to GNC during and the transition from National Transitional Council (NTC) to GNC 2012-2013. The support ranged from policy advice to technical assistance and training.
