Jordan Knowledge Week from 24- 28 March

March 24, 2019

Date: 24-28
Location: Amman

In line with the continuous effort to promote the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) as an advocacy tool and to widely disseminate and embed it in policy debates, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), through Knowledge Project, and in partnership with the Ministry of Youth in Jordan and Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, are launching a GKI Workshop in Jordan. We are calling the youth in Jordan to weigh the results of their country in the Global Knowledge Index, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and come up with policy recommendations on how to enhance their living conditions. The project encourages using the knowledge products, namely the Global Knowledge Index, as advocacy tools, aiming to widely disseminate and embed in policy debates.

The Knowledge Week is an initiative launched in 2018 by the Knowledge Project. The Knowledge Week aims to disseminate the findings of the Global Knowledge Index by creating dialogue platforms joining youth, academics, experts and policymakers in the Arab States region. This year, Knowledge Weeks are set to be held in several Arab States, including Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, Morocco and Lebanon.

The aim of the Knowledge Week in Jordan is to promote knowledge societies and policies as transformational means towards achieving sustainable development. The project contributes to driving active conversation and raising awareness on the importance of knowledge and knowledge-based policies for sustainable development.
