    UNDP Launches first Lexicon of Electoral Terminology in three languages

    The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched in Cairo its first trilingual (Arabic, English and French) Lexicon of Electoral Terminology. With close to 500 entries, the lexicon provides clear and accurate explanations of key concepts and terms in the field of elections. The Lexicon documents the most widely accepted electoral terms in Arabic accounting for regional language variations in the eight participating countries: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Tunisia and Yemen.

    U.S. Pledges $10 Million to UNDP’s Syrian Refugee Programme

    Berlin, Germany– The United States has pledged $10 million to the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) project supporting Syrian refugees who have fled to host communities in neighbouring countries. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard announced the pledge at the “Conference on Syrian Refugee Situation – supporting stability in the region” hosted today in Berlin, Germany.

    Yemeni Government and partners validate roadmap to improve rural livelihoods and employment for women, youth and marginalized groups

    Sana’a, the Government of Yemen requested support from the United Nations to accelerate progress on reducing poverty. Under a joint leadership by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Local Administration, partners and stakeholders have since August this year worked to identify bottlenecks hindering development. Through participatory consultations, a tool developed by UNDP and adopted by the United Nations Development Group known as the MDG Acceleration Framework (MAF) has been applied. Identified priorities and the way forward agreed upon was today presented to partners and stakeholders in Sana’a.

    EU and UNDP Celebrate the Launch of the Second Phase of the Project to Help Develop the North West Coast and Mine Action

    The European Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Egypt Country Office and the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation celebrate today the launch of the EU and UNDP Partnership Agreement to support the North-West Coast Development Plan and Relevant Mine Action Phase II.     The Waldensian Church Donates $650,000 to UNDP’s Lebanon Host Communities Support Project

    The Waldensian Church in Italy signed a Cost-Sharing Agreement (CSA) with UNDP on Tuesday September 30 2014, donating $ 650,000 to the aid of the Lebanese host communities. This very generous contribution through the Lebanon Host Community Support project (LHSP), the joint project between UNDP and the Ministry of Social affairs in Lebanon (MOSA), will be a great support and will improve host communities life conditions, as well as help fund interventions on social inclusion between host communities and Syrian Refugees.

    Combatting Malaria in Sudan Distribution of Over Five Million Insecticide Treated Bed Nets

    Khartoum - The National Malaria Control Programme, Federal Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and UNICEF launched the second phase of the bed net distribution plan in 2014. During this campaign that will be conducted during the period of September 13-27, 2014 about 1.16 million bed nets will be distributed bringing the total number of distributed bed nets to more than five million in various states of Sudan.
