    Launch of Emergency Solid Waste Management Assistance in Taizz

    UNDP launched an emergency solid waste management response targeting the districts of Salh, Al Qahirah and Al Mudhaffar in Taizz Governorate. This assistance will provide emergency employment opportunity for 30 work days to 250 vulnerable youth at risk, 195 men and 55 women, and restore disrupted solid waste removal services. The intervention will also strengthen the operational capacity of the Cleanliness Fund by rehabilitating its fleet through the provision of spare parts and tools.

    Norway contributes additional funding to help stabilize newly liberated areas in Iraq

    The Kingdom of Norway has contributed an additional US$2.8 million to UNDP’s Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization (FFIS), which finances fast-track initiatives in areas liberated from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This is the second contribution from the Kingdom of Norway in recent months, and will be dedicated to restoring livelihoods for people returning home.

    OFID and UNDP collaborate to launch the Arab Development Portal in 2016

    Vienna, January 17, 2016 - The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed today in Vienna a new three-year partnership agreement to reinforce their collaborative effort on producing the Arab Development Portal (ADP). Initiated by the Arab Coordination Group (CG), the ADP is a comprehensive, one-stop-shop knowledge resource that aims to improve the scope, depth, reliability, availability and use of high quality development information to support development progress in the Arab region. The ADP will go live in the first quarter of 2016.

    Denmark contributes $3.3 million to support participatory and accountable governance, security sector reform and stabilization in Iraq

    The Kingdom of Denmark has signed a US$3.3 million contribution agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support participatory and accountable governance, security sector reform and stabilization projects in Iraq. Denmark’s generous contribution will be earmarked for three projects: Strengthening Participatory and Accountable Governance, Support to Security Sector Reform Phase II, and the Funding Facility for Immediate Stabilization. These three initiatives are part of UNDP’s support for Government efforts to build a more secure, prosperous and democratic Iraq.

    The European Union and UNDP support Nablus Municipality in revitalizing Khan Al Wakalah site
