Supporting the Missan Governorate to revise its provincial development strategy
UNDP Iraq has organised a series of workshops in Erbil and Basra to support the Governorate of Missan to revise its Provincial Development Strategy.
Following a request from the Missan Governorate, UNDP Iraq arranged three workshops to provide technical support to the governorate’s Provincial Development Strategy team. The workshops will provide an opportunity for the team to review its current provincial strategy from 2011 to 2015.
The first workshop was conducted between the 15 and 17 April, 2012 and introduced the team to various approaches and structures, including the basics of strategic planning, best practices, a situational analysis of Missan Governorate and a vision of the new strategy.
The workshop was followed by two, three-day workshops in Basra. The first was held between the 26 and 28 May and the latter is expected to take place after Ramadan.
The three workshops will support the governorate to finalise a new plan and in doing so, align its system with that of the National Development Plan of Iraq. Key performance indicators will be formulated to measure progress in the context of national priorities.
As a result of the efforts, an updated version of the Missan Provincial Development Strategy Document is expected to be produced by September 2012.
