UNDP condemns the assassination of Salwa Bugaighis
The Regional Bureau for Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme strongly condemns the assassination of the Libyan public figure and women’s rights activist Salwa Bugaighis.
We are deeply saddened by this brutal murder. Salwa was a prominent lawyer, human rights activist, former member of the National Transitional Council, and the Vice President of the Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue. She championed the cause of human rights in Libya, and her tireless efforts have laid the foundation to advance peace and democracy.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to family and friends of Salwa and to the people of Libya.
