Fostering Capacities in the Arab States for Sustaining Peace & Preventing Conflict
The project aims to contribute to the efforts of building and sustaining peace and stability in the Arab region and accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by enhancing capacities of the League of Arab States (LAS) and engaging its member states in regional dialogue on critical and timely issues and on thinking new modalities for cooperation.
The project launched the LAS-Japan-UNDP Policy Roundtable series in 2019 as a platform for cross-regional dialogue to create momentum and sustain the discussion on common priority issues, supported by the tripartite partnership of the LAS, the Government of Japan, and UNDP. The project has also been working to enhance LAS’s institutional capacities, including its efforts towards digital transformation, in order to engage with its member states more effectively and timely.
