The Electoral Support Project for the Arab Region for electoral authorities and the broader election community has organzied several webinars to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on elections with the support from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

The webinars are designed as a platform for electoral authorities and practitioners to share their experiences, ideas and lessons on the impact of covid-19 on elections, the electoral process and the necessary measures to ensure credibility, transparency and efficiency in election administration during the pandemic.

The second webinar focused on the implications of Covid-19 elections on participation and voter turnout. The panel featured the case of Wisconsin and Tunisia where different decisions were taken on how to proceed with elections during covid-19; panelists shared how these decisions were made and what the implications were for voter participation and turnout. The panel also included leading expert from International IDEA who provided a global perspective on the impact of the pandemic on voter turnout globally including in the recently held elections in South Korea.
