The role of the Arab trade in services agreement to support the tourism and travel sectors in response TO COVID-19

The Virtual Regional Webinar on Tourism and Services will serve as a platform to gain in-depth understanding of national policies and practices implemented by Arab countries towards promoting tourism and travel services for sustainable and inclusive growth. Furthermore, it would address private sector’s measures to promote the green economy through tourism. As such, it is expected that efforts by policymakers and dynamics by services providers would reinvigorate the leading role of the tourism services to economic diversification and improvement of efficiency in the post COVID-19 era.

In addition, technical discussions would look into how tourism and travel services sectors contribute to growth and employment in other sectors of the Arab economies. The webinar provides opportunity for both Arab policymakers and private sector to exchange of national/regional experiences to respond to the pandemic as well as to discuss how to enhance regional communication and coordination between governmental related-bodies responsible for trade and tourism and travel services sectors in the post COVID-19 era.

The webinar aims to support and assist the Arab officials and private sector to implementthe Services Agreement during COVID-19. It intends to provide a comprehensive overview of the importance of the tourism and travel services towards promoting economic growth and regional economic integration. It will also support participants gain greater insights into various related matter such as, the interlinkage between SDGs and tourism services and the role of private sector towards better implementation of the Services Agreement in the post COVID-19 era.
