Visualize 2030 "Break the Distance"

The Arab Development Portal (ADP) launched the call for application for the 4th edition of Visualize 2030 data camp on October 21, 2020.

Visualize 2030 is the first SDGs data camp in the Arab region and has been organized for three years in a row now. Despite all the challenges this year, the Visualize 2030 data camp in 2020 will be held online over a period of five weeks, from November 16 till December 18, 2020, hosting 100 youth from the Arab region.

It brings together the top ideas presented by youth (aged 20 to 30) in a data adventure that gives them access to a wide range of expertise in the areas of data analysis and visualization, storytelling and online advocacy and allows them to collectively think and engage with one another to unleash the power of data.

Visualizers are granted access to coaching and production facilities where trainers on graphic design, videography, animation, statistical analysis, data visualization and communication are available to assist them develop their final products: audio-visual data-driven products that can take the form of a poster, infographic, illustration, video or any other visualization using the ADP Database or other official national or international sources.

Every year, Visualize 2030 addresses a development theme in the Arab region within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This year the camp will focus on the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting lockdown measures on the lives of youth in the Arab countries.

At the end of the camp, an evaluation committee will select the top three winners based on objective and clear criteria that will be communicated to the Visualizers in advance. The top three ideas will win cash prizes and their names will be announced during the final ceremony on December 21, 2020.

What are the application criteria?

1. Visualize 2030 targets youth aged 20 to 30 years in the Arab region

2. It addresses young students, researchers, graphic designers, journalists, and any other citizens interested in sustainable development in the region.

3. The Visualize 2030 is open to teams composed of two or three individuals. Individual applications will not be considered.

4. The team must include at least one designer and one data analyst/researcher/economist.

5. Visualize 2030 alumni are not eligible to participate.

6. UN staff are not eligible to participate.
