Youth Development Delegates in the Arab region start working with UNDP

March 2, 2020

Youth Development Delegates in the Arab Region Programme is a new partnership between the UNDP RBAS and the Arab Youth Center (AYC) from the UAE. The initiative supports youth in the region through assigning 11 youth to work in 10 UNDP country offices and the Regional Hub. The youth will work on projects specializing in youth development with a focus on the Youth Leadership Programme (YLP).

The delegates are placed in UNDP country offices in Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Somalia, and Tunisia. In addition, one delegate will work in the RBAS Hub in Jordan and serve as a coordinator between other delegates.

The objective of the assignment is to support youth programming and the implementation YLP at the country level as well as the regional and global levels. The recruited youth will work under the supervision and guidance of the UNDP Youth Focal Points and have roles on both country and regional levels. Their work has a strong focus on coordination, advocacy, planning and evaluation,

This is an opportunity for the selected delegates to work closely with UNDP in the assigned country, familiarize themselves with the youth agenda and the national development plans and acquire a set of expertise to work with partners nationally, regionally and internationally. It will also facilitate a peer to peer learning to contribute to national and regional efforts for sustainable development. The selected youth cohort will engage together twice, once in the beginning of 2020 for an induction and the second time in the last quarter of 2020 for reflection.
