Time #ForNature

Time #ForNature

A youth video campaign

We need to tell the world that it’s time #ForNature. And we want to make sure the voices of young people are heard.

Interested? Here are the details:

  1. Record a short video  explaining why you think it is time #ForNature.
  2. Post it on social media
  3. Use the hashtag #ForNature and tags @UNDP, @UNEP so that we can find it.

What happens next?

Over the next 12 months we plan to put as many videos as possible on our global platforms and in front of global decision-makers.

We will actively seek opportunities to include selected videos in awareness-raising efforts by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), The Lion’s Share Fund, and other UN partners throughout 2020-2021.

This is just the start. The #ForNature campaign will be visible in the lead-up to major national and international events and occasions including: Youth Day (August 12), UN General Assembly/Biodiversity Summit (September 22), UN Environment Assembly (February 2021), CBD COP 15 (2021) and COP 26 (2021). These national and international events will be opportunities to share your voice with world leaders, international activists, policymakers, and scientists.

Zoonotic infectious diseases like COVID-19 are transmitted between animals and people,  and research shows that as we degrade the natural world, these diseases are rising.

To prevent and control future pandemics, we need to take care of nature.

The good news is that we can reverse the trends of biodiversity loss by acting now to increase ambition and accountability for its protection.

We must conserve and restore wildlife and wild spaces, change the way we produce and consume food, promote environmentally friendly infrastructure and transform economies to become custodians of nature.

The world’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has shown early action and solidarity to tackle pressing issues that threaten our societies. As countries start to plan ways to build back better, getting nature at the heart of all decision making for people and the planet must be our top priority.

It’s time to reimagine our relationship to Nature.

The time for action is now.

It will take an entire global community to rise together. Raise your voice.

Tell us why you think it’s time #ForNature.
